The Kia Soul is a well-equipped compact crossover that features a particularly roomy cabin. This affordable mini MPV has recently received a refresh and comes in six trim levels: Start, Connect, Urban, Connect Plus, Mixx and Maxx.
The latest-generation Soul has retained its appealingly chunky looks but is now built upon a larger platform, improving its overall practicality. Three solid-paint livery options are available as standard (red, white or black), each subtly enhancing the vehicle’s body-coloured bumpers, door handles and (electrically adjustable) door mirrors. The Soul’s A-pillar is rendered in high-gloss black, while side windows are installed with tinted glass. Standard lighting includes multi-focus headlights, daytime running lights, front bumper-integrated indicators and rear fog lamps.
Connect grades feature 17-inch alloy wheels and electrically folding door mirrors with integrated LED indicators.
Remote-controlled keyless entry provides you with easy access to the Soul’s five-seat cabin. Once inside, you can quickly make yourself comfortable thanks to a height-adjustable seat and a tilt-and-telescopic (leather-trimmed) steering wheel. The vehicle’s expanded dimensions ensure that there is plenty of passenger space, even for three adults in the back row. Standard features include electric front and rear windows (one-touch on the driver’s side), air-conditioning and stowage provision such as an illuminated glovebox and seatback pockets. A discreet under-floor compartment features in a 354-litre boot, and if you require more space, the rear seats can be folded to achieve 1,367 litres of cargo capacity.
A 1.6-litre 130bhp petrol engine is standard with entry-level Start trims, delivering up to 41.5mpg and a 153g/km CO2 emission figure. Offering even greater fuel-efficiency is a 1.6-litre 134bhp diesel unit, which returns as much as 58.8mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 128g/km. Both engines are paired with six-speed manual transmission.
A six-speaker sound system includes DAB radio and an AM/FM radio. MP3 compatibility, USB and AUX audio interfaces are included as standard too.
Connect trims add Bluetooth connectivity and a reversing camera.
A range of standard safety features include: Vehicle Stability Management, Anti-lock Braking System, Hill-start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, six airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load-limiters and seatbelt reminders.
